in my one of my post i said i would make a brass dragon a himedere, but then i thought about it and realized that alot of the dragons match the traits of a dere. note you should look up the word dere and what the archtypes for them are, then compare that to the dragon lore you get from d&d.
Red dragons = Kaimdere
silver dragons = deredere
copper dragons =hinedere
brass = himdere or oujidere
black = sadodere
gold = dandere
and thats it. i think the rest f the dragons can be summed up as mayaderes cause whatever. also this doesn't mean dragon romance it means that if you need to rpg a dragon you just need to look up these personas and your good.

I was content to just ignore this post, but since other people brought it up...
I do follow anime culture (aka otaku culture, or weeb by the unenlightened), and I only recognise 1 of these (and I know it is wrong because I don't think any dragon could be described as deredere).
Please translate post into plain common for the masses.
I had to look this up, so from my understanding a deredere is someone who smothers their love ones with affection. Saddoderes are sadistic to their lovers. Danderes only talk with their love interest the rest of the time they read books. himedere is a prideful royal type for girls and oujidere is the same except for boys. Kaimdere are god complex, hinedere is a sarcastic person the last one he mention. Mayadere are lovers who don't change their alignment but will still intend on loving you until betrayal.
How you want to think of Dragons in your game, and how you want to portray them in your world, is - of course - totally up to you and your tastes.
However, for my game, somehow the awesome and fearsome eternal and elemental power of a terrifyingly evil & intelligent apex predator like Smaug The Magnificent, seems to lose something when compared to a temperamental Japanese schoolgirl - but that might just be me.

There is not a single type of dragon that doesn't look down on every other race, and in general, they don't like being around other dragons either (some of them don't even raise their young).

well ... that might be true for many campaign worlds, and we're all free to alter our settings to match our style, but according to RAW:
Silver Dragon
The friendliest and most social of the metallic dragons, silver dragons cheerfully assist good creatures in need.
Brass Dragon
The most gregarious of the true dragons, brass dragons crave conversation, sunlight, and hot, dry climates.
Silver dragons enjoy spreading good and destroying evil. They often polymorph into a human adventurer persona and never reveal that they are dragons, because they don't want to be relied on.
Brass dragons like being the center of attention. They spent centuries acquiring their stories and knowledge and like showing it off.
The main reason dragons don't like being around others of their kind is because they like to be the best and other dragons are the only rivals to that. Ultimately, they act the way they act for selfish and prideful reasons.
Or at least that is the way dragons are in the forgotten realms (DMs are free to change whatever they want). And the 5e monster manual leaves out a lot of details about dragon behavior. (I've been watching MrRhexx's series about it on YouTube).
I guess it's been a while since I've watched any anime or read any manga. I seem to remember characters being complex. At least the major ones. Not reducible to a single mood. :/

The [blank]Dere terms are really only supposed to refer to the way they act or behave around the person they like, not to describe the whole character's personality.

No, I got that. And maybe I'm misremembering characters as more complex, and I wasn't all that deep into anime/manga anyway, so maybe I caught a non-representative sample :) This just seems like a shallow way of describing characters. Do they commonly change from one category to another in a given story?

Usually. The better written characters can change categories between scenes, though they will usually be referred to by the attitude that have most often. The while 'dere thing is pretty much just a meme (and I am meme blind, so I only know a few 'deres).

Got it. That makes more sense. The capacity for the genre to categorize and name has always been there :)
Okay so I get that dere is supposed to refer to the love interest but if you dive deeper into the lore abit, they really do match. i jusst thought it would be fun and helpful cause this sort of give them a bit of a persona outside of gold and breath weapon.
I definitely recommend checking out MrRhexx's YouTube channel if you are interested in learning more about dragons. It has information on appearance, personality, their tactics, their lair, their favorite treasure, favorite prey, relationships with other dragons, relationships with other races, mating habits, etc.

I'm not fluent enough in weeb to completely grasp this post.
I'd never heard of any of this either - apparently it's an Anime thing. Here's a translation matrix?

Still doesn't make much sense... But thanks for the translation!

Thats where I got this from. I watched them and was like "Hm...sounds like a dere"
White dragon is totally yandere
Mystic v3 should be official, nuff said.
