So I've read the section on how to design an encounter like, three times. The DnD beyond page and the Dmg are basically the same. I just have one question:
Do you divide the XP equally among the party?
So if my level 1 party fights four level 1/8th monsters, they should get 200 XP (that is 25 xp for 1/8th monsters, x2 for there being four of them, x4, so 200 xp). Does EACH PC who participated in the battle get 200 xp, or do they get 50 xp? I'm, like, 90% sure it is the latter but I can't find the official rules anywhere.
You take the total XP of the encounter and then yes, you divide it by the number of characters. So a party of 8 in the same encounter will each earn half the XP of a party of 4, which makes sense because the party of 8 will find it far easier.
