CoS - Curse of Strahd - Bildrath’s Mercantile - How did you?
I'm currently running CoS for the first time and am wondering how you ran Bildrath’s Mercantile if you spiced it up or ran it RAW and have any reflections on it. I ask as I'm thinking to flesh it out abit, Bildrath is one of the very few NPC the party will interact with in Barovia if only to get annoyed at the overpricing.
I was thinking of having him secretly selling the fake Vistania Mist Travel potions to fellow Barovians and having gotten rich by selling false hope to his neighbors, owning deeds to property and houses of families that sold everything for enough potions to let them all escape the mists (thus not needing trade but motivated more by hoarding) A clue to which being finding such a potion on Dalvan Olensky which the late Burgomaster Kolyan Indirovich funded in the desperate hope of not just pinning that letter to the gate but sending it to the outside world... I also think it would explain some of Dalvan Olensky motivations. And why didn't he give it to Ireena Kolyana she flatly refused as both her and Ismark firmly believe it to be fake as would Kolyan normally.
Thanks for any thoughts replies
