So I've been looking into Mythic monsters fo ra few end-game bosses to a few campaigns I'm running and I'm simply asking this for clarification. When a monster is Mythic and is used as a mythic (as opposed to Mythic but does not use it's mythic abilities) does it's CR change? It is worth more XP and counts as two creatures of it's original value, so wouldn't that effectively change it's CR?
Example: A Dullahan that is not mythic is CR 10, a Mythic Dullhan would be roughly CR 19, right?
The CR of the creature doesn't change, the effective difficulty of the encounter changes. Think of this as setting an encounter with two CR X Legendary creatures, back-to-back. Putting the two creatures together doesn't change their CR, but the difficulty of the encounter would increase if they appear together.
In your example, a mythic Dullahan is still CR 10, but will occupy more of the party's daily XP budget. You will effectively add another Hard or Deadly Encounter (however this balances out with your party) to your roster of 6-8 encounters per adventuring day.
