So, I was running LMoP for some friends. All experienced players, who TPK'ed at Cragmaw Hideout. They were playing a group of 4 Kobolds and were having a blast.
This particular game is a clear beer and pretzels style DND game. Nobody was butt hurt that they all died, not incap'ed, died. The players want to continue on with the game, and since its not super serious, I am just going to continue the game on with their PC's in the afterlife maybe working to get back to reality to continue on with the main story. Instead of rerolling new PC's.
My question, does anyone know of any good content out there for an adventure like this? or maybe have any fun ideas? There was 1 paladin in the party if that helps in someway.
Personally I'm not super familiar with the outer planes. I have a basic knowledge of them, but nothing to in depth.
I had considered dropping them in the City of Judgement, and maybe Kelemvor or Jergal giving them a quest to earn their return? Also considered plopping them right smack in the 9 Hells...cause why not lol... but I dont think there is a lot there a lev 1 party could contend with right? correct me if im wrong here. Or something portending to Kurtulmak...maybe some sort of quest to help him escape his cave or steal something from Garl Glittergold's domain and he he will rez them? IDK.
I'm just looking for a few fun ideas to spark some creativity. Something that catches the lax and fun vibe at the table. I'm leaning towards something mischievous and perhaps silly currently. What do you all think?
Divine intervention doesn't seem quite right for beginner adventurers, so I'd try to come up with more mundane resolutions. If they're not "obviously super-dead", have them spared by the goblins or revived by others after the goblins kicked them out.
That's where the new adventure hooks are. Maybe a druid (or a goblin!) healed them, but whatever herbs and mushrooms he had in his kit has the party go on an adventure while tripping balls. Or maybe the goblins saved them as contestants in some kind of wacky gameshow.
Well, there is a mini adventure callen Death is only the begining in DMguild in which a necromancer bought the corpses of the party to experiment with and they are resurrected as different types of undead. The goal is to escape the tower and it is meant to be an adventure start sort of thing in which the party's goal is to find a way to come back to life. You could do something like that. The necromancet could be someone the goblins make business with or someone who works with/is the black spider.

I forget which book it was in, but i think it was one of the books after the Avatar Trilogy, maybe book 4. They protagonist made it to the Fugue Plain, where everyone was supposed to get picked up by their god. The problem was nobody was being picked up. Much hilarity ensued when they had to scale the walls of the city of the dead (or whatever) in the middle to get to Cyric. It was quite the story, and I think some ideas could be stolen.
The party could be in the afterlife/purgatory together, but things aren't working. So, they can fight denizens to get to a McGuffin and return to Faerûn. If they TPK (again), they can go to the Nine Hells, rinse, and repeat. It could be fun.
In your setting are Kobolds associated with dragons? some perhaps as devout followers?
Perhaps they were following the wishes of an elder dragon and that dragon has a purpose for them and brought them back to life. The Lost Mine could be something a dragon could be interested in after all -- or perhaps for one of their younger dragonkin. Perhaps the dragon is interested in the legendary blade named "Talon" and that could be their current purpose.
The dragon liked them of course... but only tolerates so many "failures"... This would give you an avenue to bring new kobolds in as well that know some backstory -- as the dragon can put some of that information in their minds... Depending on how powerful your dragons are :)

"An' things ha' come to a pretty pass, ye ken, if people are going to leave stuff like that aroound where innocent people could accidentally smash the door doon and lever the bars aside and take the big chain off'f the cupboard and pick the lock and drink it!"
I had hoped there would be like an old module or issue of Dungeon or Dragon magazines that had a pre written adventure because I dont have a lot of time to homebrew something up at this point...oh well.
If I do have to brew something up I'm thinking I might plop 'em in the City of Judgment and have Kurtulmak give them a quest to steal like Glittergold's left sock or some nonsense but have him pretend its some great item of power he needs.... really hes just bored and is looking for some entertainment...
Just In case anyone was wondering... I think I found something. I was looking at some old Dungeon Magazines, (specifically issue 176) and stumbled across this Cross City Race adventure, originally put out for 4E. It looks fun, and I could easily see a bunch of "gods" getting together to put on a race at the expense of their followers, for a little break from the monotony of godhood.
Maybe structure it so that whomever wins gets to resurrected...

Feel free to hit me up with any questions.

Kobolds you say?

Thanks, all good ideas so far...
