New at DM and D&D in general. Have only played a few one shots and is part of my first campaign. But I really wanna play with friends and the innistrad setting has peaked my interest for a campaign. But from what I can read, it is not a conventional D&D setting.
Is innistrad a bad choice for a beginner dm? And are there any good adventures in this setting? Or will homebrew be better?
I'll say right off the bat I'm not a Magic: The Gathering player, but as an outsider looking in it just appears to be an alternative to D&D's already existing Demiplane of Dread, Ravenloft: a Gothic horror setting ruled by the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich. In 5th Edition it has an adventure, the Curse of Strahd, and is considered one of the best adventures of this edition.
Regarding if you can pull it off or not, having confidence in yourself, the setting and what you'll put into it is what will determine that. If you know everything there is to Innistrad and you've players who want to be part of an adventure through there, by all means go for it. You'll probably have to do a lot of homebrew for the setting, as the only official content I know of is "Plane Shift: Innistrad" which is published by Wizards of the Coast, but I don't know the extent of its testing or rules legality. The Plane Shift content features playable races and monster statblocks, as well as a ton of lore and how to incorporate it into a Curse of Strahd game (featuring the good Count himself).
There's other Plane Shift content on DMs Guild, all free, but again I think it'll be up to you to do most of the legwork for piecing it together for an adventure.
I hope that helps, and I wish you luck!

Zero is the most important number in D&D: Session Zero sets the boundaries and the tone; Rule Zero dictates the Dungeon Master (DM) is the final arbiter; and Zero D&D is better than Bad D&D.
