I am running a campaign soon, however - I have the basic plot outline, but I need some battles/encounters to fill in the gaps. The encounters need to take place in a village, which is between a forest and a deserted muskeg. Near the village lies ancient ruins. What are some ideas for encounters lasting 1-2 sessions, which will act as a side quest?
See Wolves of Welton by Winghorn press. I think it's free. It's low-level, but somewhat scalable. Wolves, owlbear, spiders. There's combat, RP, more combat, then either RP, skill checks, or a decent battle depending on choices. It might be 3-4 hours.
Does Winghorn Press have any other free adventures?
I think so. Wild Sheep Chase is free from their web site. There may be others, but I don't know details.
WoW is a favorite of mine. I've run it so much I have much of it memorized. I ran it for a few newbie groups at cons, for kids, for experienced players, and even from memory in a car on the way to a con. I played *in* it once, and after first few intro descriptions, I said to the DM, "Is this Wolves of Welton?" The look I got was priceless. I agreed to play as though I didn't know everybody already. It still worked.
Good luck!

Thanks! Wolves of Welton works well, so I might adapt it to fit the location of my campaign. Does Winghorn Press have any other free adventures?
