I have a campaign I am trying to build and they are going to meet up with a "disabled" vampire. The vamp has been trapped in a cave for centuries and doesn't have the strength to fight the party. But they could isolate one and give them a hickey.
If they do that, what are good ways to reverse the turning to spawn? Is it a curse? can I just take them to the temple and let the higherups have their way with them? I don't want it to be a permanent thing but it would be cool to play around with.
Also- how long should it take for the change to take place?
You could have them meet a powerful archdruid who is willing to help. He can offer a sort-of-solution that will take away the characters thirst for blood. Their character would become a vegetarian vampire. He would transform into a fruit bat and a fox instead of a vampire bat and wolf, you could swap out the sunlight sensitivity thing for something like a sunlight dependency trait. Make them more plant-like. Flowing water would be no problem, in fact they might need to soak or drink it to survive. Maybe stagnant water is dangerous to them, or water deprived places.
The biggest thing though, would be the hunger for fruit. They would always be searching for fruits and berries to suck the juice from, vegetables would work in a pinch, but fruit is what they really desire. They might become almost ridgerunner-like (From the Wingfeather saga) in their desire for fruit, valuing it more than money or jewels.
