Hi, I was wondering what I should run after the end of LMoP. My players most likely will want to continue with their current characters so they will be level 5. I have 3PCs and they are more of a combat focused party but dont mind rp. Im looking for a campaign thats fairly easy to transition from LMoP and not too hard to DM since im a new DM.
I saw a few suggestions of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Storm Kings Thunder, Waterdeep:DH or DMM
but i have a hard time deciding on which one to choose.
My advise would be Storm Kings Thunder. It's got plenty of combat, some good role-playing to be had if your players want. It's also set up for starting at 5th level, you just skip the intro part, or let the players steam roll the first little bit.
Everyone like to feel impowered from time to time so I would probably let them just be awesome for the first part, just don't level them up.
I was going to go with Dragon of Icespire Peak, as that’s also set in Phandalin. Do you have that? I thought about dropping a one shot in between the two, maybe even one of the Berovia one shots for contrast.
You could use Beyond The Dragons of Icespire Peak adventure trilogy, or Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage that start at level 5 and goes up to level 13 or 20 respectively.

Storm Kings Thunder has a very smooth transition form LMoP into entering into a larger world at level 5.
You just have any of the faction NPC they are involved with alert them to things going on in Triboar and send them down the road to investigate.
