As the title says... how do you deal with an Eladrin, Shadow kai, sea elves and the Gith when it comes to the banishment spell? It kinda sound harsh to banish them to their native plane and have the pc re-roll their character or should they? What do you think?

Born under the watch of something from the furthest corners of the far realms.... It knows all.... it sees all... and it asks: "What is it that you want to see?"... and my answer is... ALL"
Use banishment against an extraplanar PC only when you can get an adventure/plot hook out of it. And anyway, the odds are very much against the spell lasting the required minute.

meaning? Are you saying that after the adventure ends or..?

I guess they mean you never use or let banishment work permanently on an extraplanar PC unless the plot calls for it. Some ideas:
An Eladrin is banished in combat and appears back in the Feywild, in the court of some archfey or Eladrin queen. That NPC gives them an urgent quest or demands they bring the party back to help with something, then (if the concentration of the enemy is not broken within a minute) the NPC teleports the player back to the battle using plot magic.
(With the agreement of the player involved.) Near the end of a climactic battle a Sea Elf player grabs the quest object off the altar to break the ritual. The villain responds by banishing the player back to the Elemental plane, then disappearing into his own escape portal making the banishment permanent. New quest is now a race to locate and rescue the elf and object on the plane of water. The elf's player takes on the role of some rescued prisoner.
Short answer is that the new races should not by default be at increased risk of effective permadeath just because the lore behind their race description suggests they are "native" to a different plane.
