I'm DMing Rime of the Frost Maiden, and the party has 3 PJ. Elf warrior/wizard, Hafling rogue and Dragonborn vengueance paladin, with and snowy owlbear as a sacred Mount (it a DM concession). The elf is Linked to the shield guardian (a bit nerf).
They are al Ythryn doors, in company of Velynne, and have reached lv9 right now.
I'm thincking on the posibitily of levelin up Vellyne, who actually is an 8th level spellcaster.
Can if you want. It shouldn't hurt anything. And if you feel you over corrected, you can just have the NPC use less of the stuff you gave them. The party won't know the difference.

It would give her 5th level spells, increase her dcs and health. That may result in a higher challenge rating. Some 5th level spells like wall of force are also fight ending so steer clear of those.

It's a good idea especially if you use her as an NPC that adventure with the party, it would prevent you from having to modify encounters difficulty.
