Hello internet! I am looking for a good "kill the dragon" adventure. Hopefully something better than a dragon in a cave, smoking a cigarette and waiting to be hacked to death.
Thanks in advance

I am a 40 something year old physician who DMs for a group of 40 something year old doctors. We play a hybrid game, mostly based on 2nd edition rules with some homebrew and 5E components.
Dragons can become humanoid so how about a crime lord, then when the players confront them they become a dragon. This could be hinted at with huge halls etc which at first seem opulent but actually are big enough for a dragon
As the party arrives a devastated town, they see the dragon flying off.
On meeting with the villagers, they learn that the great dragon Velstitzen has claimed the city and given everyone 1 day to vacate the area -- but they must leave everything alone, and they cannot call for help or the dragon will raze the ground and all that live upon it.
THey will suddenly stop, look at each other, look at the adventurers, look at each others, and then burst into wailing and gnashing of teeth as a roar is heard int he far distance.
You see, the dragon will perceive the adventurers as "help".
Right then, they have to begin a battle in a town or village against a creature who can fly. They do not know the town, and now the town is going to be somewhat hostile to them until they prove they can really hurt it.

My spiral campaign is based in the small city of Riverfast. What if a dragon and a giant attacked the city with some minions and razed it, or at least carried off a lot of loot. Then they will be motivated to exact vengeance, rescue the NPCs that they have established relationships and/or satisfy their blood lust?
As far type of adventure, not a three month campaign! A few sessions maybe. I would also take plug and play if it is good. My experience has been that I always heavily modify pre-made dungeons but am open to suggestions.

I kept looking at this thread trying to come up with something, and that one finally blinked into my head.
I wanted to give you something you could whip up fairly easily (generated town map, RP the town without much prep, and then just go into the encounter) that you could do in one to three sessions (or stretch out if you wanted).
I don't pay attention to the marketplaces for adventures, so can't help there.
Sorry it took so long.

Do you want something a little more published and plug-and-play, or are you looking for a shorter or longer adventure concept or suggestion?

I actually had a thought similar to AEDorsay.
