The spell has a target of self, so no, you can’t put it on a coin RAW.
But if you’re the DM, you can just do it anyway. Just say it’s a magic item that does that. Though I guess that’s kind of a paradox, as the field negates magic items, so it would turn itself off. But call it an artifact and you’re good. Artifacts can do anything.
Also, there’s the helm of disjunction. Not quite what you want, but maybe something to work from.
I feel like ... walking around inside an anti-magic field would be mostly detrimental, easily outweighing the rare occasion where some major benefit would be gained by throwing said field onto an enemy - who would then promptly walk out of it. Or toss it back.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
the PCs wont know it as it will be a coin in their coin pouch, that they have picked up
And they won't notice all their magic not working? That seems .... shady.

They will when they try to cast or use their magic weapons.
It's basically a trap for them to figure out.
To my mind, magic users of all kinds would instantly feel they cannot cast, attuned magic items would be the same. Any sort of magical effect they come in contact with - Continual Flame seems an obvious example - would snuff out.
Shady.

Instead of an anti-magic field exactly like the spell, you could just say the coin "sucks up" magic in its vicinity. I have a hag-created item that does something like that as a security measure, and it then erupts in an AoE once it's fully charged

Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
Brutal. I do wish that their were some better enchanting rules for PCs (other than throwing money and time at it) I feel like artificers shouldn't be the only people who can make magic items in a desirable manner (again not just money and time).

Essentially, the title is the question. Can that be done?
I'm only looking to have it last for 30 to 60 mins max.
Or is there something else that I can do to a coin (or any inanimate object) that creates an area of 10 feet that negates all magic?

Thanks
Putting an anti-magic field on an object makes it more powerful because you can then choose to not be in the effects range unlike the base spell.
It's probably still in line with other 9th level spells but it is a boost in power.
