Hey all, pretty sure I know the answer to this, but can't find hard confirmation one way or another:
TL:DR If I've cast an hour long Dominate Person spell on someone, can I hold a normal conversation with one person while telepathically controlling the other.
More Details: If I've cast Dominate Person at a 7th level and am using my action to exert "precise control" over the affected target with the telepathic connection, am I able to speak normally to another person. A character has cast Dominate Person on an NPC, and is attempting to control them from across a courtyard while casually talking to a guard as to not arouse suspicion. There is nothing in the spell description about it requiring sight and hearing, as some other spells would. This leads me to think this is RAW acceptable.
Yeah you can definitely speak (or even cast spells that don't require concentration) while concentrating on Dominate Person and providing telepathic commands.
That's what I think as well, this is the only part that gave me pause:
"You can use your action to take total and precise control of the target. Until the end of your next turn, the creature takes only the actions you choose, and doesn't do anything that you don't allow it to do. During this time, you can also cause the creature to use a reaction, but this requires you to use your own reaction as well."
