I was wondering if you all could help with something. I plan on introducing a Bronze Dragon Egg in my campaign, and I had some questions that I think you might be able to answer. For starters, how long does it take for the egg to develop? Secondly, what climate would the egg have to be kept in?
Also (possibly the most important question), are Bronze Dragons born with their Good alignments or do they have to be taught them from a parent?
On egg incubation time, it depends which book you ask. Fizban's Treasrury of Dragons has the following to say:
The incubation period for any egg might range from 6 months to several decades or longer.
Typically, an egg thrives only in an environment appropriate for a dragon of its kind—nestled in a pool of lava for a red or gold dragon, in ice for a white or silver dragon, in rotting vegetation for a black or green dragon, in sun-heated sand for a brass or blue dragon, or in a storm-wracked sea cave or inhospitable moorland for a bronze or copper dragon.
This works in a pinch. Just define the amount of time that makes sense for your campaign.
If you want a more authoritative take, we can look at material from old editions, in particular the Draconomicon from 3rd edition. It lists precise incubation times for each kind of dragon egg. A bronze dragon egg takes 600 days to incubate, weights 8 lb. and is about 2 feet long.
As for the conditions it needs to be in, the following is listed.
The egg must be immersed in a sea or ocean or someplace where tidewaters flow over it at least twice a day.
Concerning alignment, I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that it depends on upbringing as much as on dragon type.

Of all the Dnd settings, Dragonlance is my absolute favourite.
