Is there a way to get out of a prismatic wall sphere without having to go through the layers? I have heard mention of dimension door and greater teleportation, however, I can see those working if it was just the prismatic wall and not the sphere. I have also heard of the Rod of cancellation, but as far as I can find that item is from 3.5 not 5e.

Based on the rules, there are very few ways through a Prismatic wall in Sphere form. The wall is opaque, meaning characters can't see through it, so escape spells that require seeing your destination aren't going to do it.
Teleport can work but may take the character entirely out of the combat (to a safe place).
Teleportation Circle would work, but it takes too long to be prudent in a fight.
Dimension Door would get it directly.
Word of Recall would work, but, again, suddenly, everyone is out of the combat.
Indigo layer prevents casting spells through the wall. However, 5th edition prismatic wall doesn't seem to extend onto the ethereal or block ethereal travel, so you can cast etherealness unless someone also cast a spell that blocks dimensional travel, such as private sanctum.
In sphere form, wouldn't dimention door be blocked?
dimension door doesn't require sight, and teleporting doesn't go "through" the intervening space
If time isn't of the essence, you could also get out by doing something fun like casting rope trick inside the sphere and waiting it out

Dimension door does not work because it lets you teleport to a location in range. But the range is blocked by the Prismatic Wall's 6th layer which blocks all spells
Misty Step, Far Step, Arcane Gates, Scatter and Thunder Step do not work because they requires sight (unless you have blindsight, which would let you use those spells.)
Plane shift is not exact enough to let you get in, but it could let you get out.
What does work both ways:
Etherealness
Passwall on the floor if there is another floor below you,
Tree Stride
Transplant Via Plants
Teleport
Gate
Word of Recall (but this requires a really strange situation.

Also, creatures cannot cast spells on you if they are in the Prismatic Wall. They have to at least pop out to affect you, so readied actions work in that case.
Finally, the duration is not that long. Have patience and good things will come to you. Especially if you wait 9 minutes and then set up a bunch of area effect spells such as Maddening Darkness.

The ask was to get out, not to get in.
It looks you could cast resilient sphere and hamster-roll through the sphere (though I'm willing to listen to arguments for why that won't work). That's probably the lowest level option.
Ttat also means spells like Delayed Blast Fireball, Spirit Guardians, etc. can affect someone in the Prismatic Sphere. Hm. Good to know.
I would probably not let area spells extend through the sphere unless the center moves through the wall, but that still lets a fair number of things through. This is probably not working as intended (in prior editions it would not have worked), but prismatic sphere has always been an odd special spell.

Dimension Door does work, as you don't have to see the place you want to go at all. Or know anything about it.
Here's the relevant quote:
"You arrive at exactly the spot desired. It can be a place you can see, one you can visualize, or one you can describe by stating distance and direction, such as "200 feet straight downward" or "upward to the northwest at a 45- degree angle, 300 feet."
Dimension Door's range is 500 feet, plenty to get through a Prismatic Sphere form.
EDIT: To be more clear, the target of Dimension Door is the caster, inside the sphere in this case. The spell is not targeting through the prismatic sphere, which is why it works. (I'm willilng to be wrong)

You are wrong. As expressly stated by Crawford. The indigo layer stops ANY spell that affects things via Range. Dim Door lets you teleport to any location in range, therefore it is going through the layers and therefore it is stopped.

The target of dimension door is a point in space (why this differs from misty step and teleport is not clear and can probably be blamed on bad editing).

That is not at all a consensus view
dimension door: "You teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range"
misty step: "you teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see."
teleport: "This spell instantly transports you and up to eight willing creatures of your choice that you can see within range, or a single object that you can see within range, to a destination you select."
The language of all three spells is very similar, and they all indicate the caster is the target of the spell (and perhaps a companion or eight)

The language is similar, but the spell is written differently with regards to range. It should have a range of 'self' like misty step.
dimension door can't have a range of self because you can target another creature as well

All three spells are very very different. Dimdoor specifies 'within range' none of the others do.
Basically, the indigo layer blocks the range of the spell. This is mostly irrelevant for Teleportation and Misty Step, but blocks the travel of Dim Door.

It's not supposed to be easy, but it is possible.

The 6th level blocks all spells, resilient sphere is a spell.
See Pantagruel666 below.Planeshift would let you get out, but not in. Will update my earlier post.
The 6th prevents spells from being cast through the wall. It does not prevent a spell effect from moving through the wall after it has been cast.
Oh my god, I did not realize that. I applaud your intelligence. I stand corrected!

Note, while the indigo layer does not stop Misty Step, as he mentioned, the lack of sight does stop it, unless you have blindsight.

and this is what I love about good communities.
I stand corrected and have learned something new today! Thank you :)

You can bring along another creature, but the caster must travel; 'self and up to one creature touched' would be valid.
