I am looking to expand and gather ideas for quests for the next part of my campaign.
The party is outsiders in a wealthy kingdom's capital, and are wanted for sabotaging the king's inaugural airship. They have escaped prison, and are seek alliances to overthrow the unjust ruler and install a new one sympathetic to the poor.
The 2 major factions they have ties to are : -A Robin Hood-style band of bards steals from the rich and aids the poor.
-A group of outlanders fights violently against the king's oppression.
-They're also connected to someone aware of a rebellion led by a potential new ruler.
The campaign offers the party ample freedom to explore and engage in political intrigue. Though currently fugitives, they desire to leave the city. I'm looking for quests that lead them out of the capital while advancing the overarching storyline. They're level 5 and currently have minimal influence in factions as they have yet to do much work for them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
maybe a druidic enclaive? the airships are made from their trees and they want this new king stopped? maybe the kingdom are pillaging the land for resources to fuel the king's ambition? They have allies outside the city walls, could get missions from the druids to infiltrate the kingdom or disrupt supply lines etc. this allows for adventures inside or outside the capitol
Originally suspected to be Drow, rumor of a potential Duergar invasion start to raise after increase rate of nightly attacks on a road by large invisible ambushers, that eventually lead the party to a deep crevasse in the ground connecting to the Underdark. These dwarves brought with them horror unknown to surface dwellers....
The bards tell of a magical double-necked lute that can lure the rich to a concert where the rich guys' souls are transported to the astral plane by a killer solo, allowing their houses to be plundered. or maybe the lute brings peace to the land or aids the rise of a local leader.
