My Modern Day Zombie Apocalypse campaign is nearing a close (I sense maybe three more sessions).
I have a level 5 Arcane Trickster Rogue and a Light Domain Cleric who I want to power up a bit more because I feel like they’ve been underserved by the narrative and I want them to feel a bit more powerful and special.
This campaign is set in the modern day USA, but magic and your basic D&D stuff still exists. For example, the only other active magic item my party has right now is a +1 Orb magic focus that one of the Bards has, that they won from defeating an old woman cleric who was using it.
So, it doesn’t even really need to be a magic item, but any ideas for something that could make a quiet Cleric and a VERY Arcane Trickster-y Rogue more powerful, and also could be found in a modern day campaign with relative ease (I have Very Little Time to slip these items to them lol.)
Dimensional Goggles - provides Darkvision 60' and when the internal power source is activated, wearer can see ethereal, astral, and invisible creatures for 1 minute which then drains the battery and requires 12 hours (long rest) to recharge.
What he said, who needs magic when you have a gun!
But seriously there are a ton of things you could do, Hoodie of urban concealment, Vape Pen of billowing fog, Chancer's Hobo Nickel, Preserved 12 year old Big Mac, could have a lot of fun coming up with modern magic items if you use your imagination.
