Setting up a party hosted by Volo and I need a few more guests.
During the 5e time period, what notable NPCs would be on good terms with Volo? Or at least, might show up if he invited them out for drinks? In the lore, most people either don't like him, or at least can't be bothered to get involved in his nonsense if they don't have to.
I have one already in mind (and admittedly it could be fun if just a single invited guest shows up) but I am having a hard time finding other existing NPCs to draw from. These shouldn't be rock-stars... I don't want any Elminster or Daughter of Mystra level NPCs... just another Realms C-lister or two who has existing material out there about them I can draw from for inspiration.
Any and all ideas are appreciated!

PC - Ethel - Human - Lvl 4 Necromancer - Undying Dragons * Serge Marshblade - Human - Lvl 5 Eldritch Knight - Hoard of the Dragon Queen
DM -(Homebrew) Heroes of Bardstown *Red Dead Annihilation: ToA *Where the Cold Winds Blow : DoIP * Covetous, Dragonish Thoughts: HotDQ * Red Wine, Black Rose: CoS * Greyhawk: Tides of War
Do you know the characters your players have played in Baldur's Gate 3? Cameo time!
And keep in my that just because someone doesn't like Volo doesn't mean he doesn't like them. Or even knows they don't like him. They might show up after receiving an invitation just to keep an eye on him.
Volo appears in Waterdeep Dragon Heist with his friends Floon Blagmaar (young human fellow up for a good time) and Renaer Neverember (young noble). They hang out at the Yawning Portal which has its own cast of regulars. A lot of the NPCs in WDH could fit the bill, Zardoz Zord for example, and the Yawning Portal or Sea Maiden's Faire could be a venue.

Currently homebrewing the Mistveil Rogue, an elusive infiltrator that can vanish into thin air.
If you’re setting it after the events of BG3, maybe Volo has maintained some friendships from his lovely time at the Goblin Camp? Could lead to some fun NPC-on-NPC aggro during conversation!
