I am running a oneshot which is set around Ancient Greek times and their Myths. This will be set in a Minotaur’s labyrinth but I’m not sure on how to execute to players visually. I have already planned encounters with traps and monsters based upon survival roles and where the result will place them in the labyrinth.
So my question to you all is, do I:
- create a whole labyrinth map and have the players explore and guide them based on survival checks.
or
- use Theatre of Mind and use individual battle maps based upon their survival roles (these maps would be the individual corridor or room based on the roll)
Which do you guys think would work better both from a DM POV and player experience POV?
I did something like that. it was catacombs that honeycombed the whole planet. I had a couple of map tiles visible at a time, and because of the nature of the catacombs I didn't even have to be spacially aware so I could overlap whenever I wanted
