Hi all, the wizard and cleric in the party Dimension Doored into a wrinkle in the Weave which manifests physically as a massive orb of energy. They're both 11th level, this could ding them to 12th. I want to give them a one-or-two-shot in there and am looking for ideas. Here are some things to know:
1.) Absolutely anything is on the table. Time travel, multiverse experiences, time dilation or expansion, combats, puzzles, all manner of weirdness, all manner of backstory involvement, etc. Once inside this wrinkle, the players may experience anything.
2.) The result of this anomaly in the Weave is that it's been trying to right itself for millennia. Because of this, it can devour magical ability/knowledge or offer a massive burst of magical understanding. It is a thing a magical chaos. The players are in danger of losing some magical ability or experiencing quantum leaps in their abilities. Not sure yet how to determine which they experience upon exiting the sphere.
3.) I'd love to have the one-shot end with each of them having come to an epiphany of some sort, involving their backstories, if possible. If it helps. . . the cleric's mother died when he was young, was resurrected, but came back as a shell of her former self. As a result, the cleric worships Kelemvor, God of Death, and is deeply fearful of resurrecting anyone. The wizard 's future wife was recently killed in a raid on her town (days prior).
4.) The whole party knows that eventually they'll have to defeat the lord of greed, a massively powerful wizard who's been in suspended animation for millenia. They don't know what he looks like so this could be an opportunity to introduce him.
5.) Best case scenario is that they have an epiphany about their true power, etc., and come out with expanded magical understanding (classic hero's journey). But I certainly don't want to railroad any aspect of this and want to leave all possible outcomes on the table.
Huge thanks in advance for any thoughts!
TL;DR: A wizard and cleric have entered a wrinkle in the Weave (it's like a portal/black hole/etc.). Any chaos/weirdness/emotional revelation is on the table. Where would you take it from here? Thanks!
For #3 - backstory epiphany: Wizard experiences an alternate timeline where he never left on adventure and was there to protect his future wife but as just an ordinary dude b/c he never went on adventure to never grew his power. If he dies to the bandits like his future wife he is spat out of the wrinkle having lost some power, if he kills the bandits he gains some power upon exiting, if he hides from the bandits and survives he exits as he entered.
Cleric discovers that the soul of their mother is trapped within the wrinkle of the weave and that's why she didn't resurrect properly. They can then choose to try to release their mother's soul allowing her to pass into the afterlife (gains power upon exiting), leave their mother's soul trapped (no change), or destroy their mother's soul to end her suffering (lose power upon exiting).

Love both of these, thanks so much! Having her soul trapped in the Weave is genius.
