I have been helping some new DM's recently who have been looking for plot hooks to help them build their campaign and quests.
While I have been giving them some ideas along the way, I thought it might be a good idea to reach out to the community and see just how many unique ideas we can come up with.
Remember, this is intended to be short one sentence plot hooks to get the creative juices flowing. Here are a few to start.
1. All the children in a town have developed powers after a meteor fell nearby. 2. The water's of a lake known to be crystal clear have begun turning black. 3. Entire houses have been disappearing leaving large holes in town. 4. A surplus of unusual large gold coins have been circulating, and the people who receive them are acting unusual. 5. The forest has been dying for ages, but now the rot is spreading.
Add some ideas as well and let's see what we can come up with.

You can lead a dwarf to water, but you can't make him get in the boat.
1. People have been slowly walking into the dangerous forest on their own...perhaps not by free will.
2. Hey, doesn't the treeline look a bit closer than yesterday? - moving forest (I'm imagining [Tooltip Not Found] or something like that)
3. A creepy, wealthy man moves into town, taking a large plot of land just outside of the village, and people begin to hear strange sounds and noises coming from that area.
4. A faction of goblins (or other creatures, DM's choice) have begun to speak of a "Great Fixer" who will arrive in this world soon. Dun dun dun!!!
5. A well-known figure begins to talk of strange things about to happen - perhaps a god coming to Earth ^ (see above), some sort of magic, or a mythical monster.
6. A strange serial killer has become a terrifying figure throughout the town - except they kill their victims using a strange method (perhaps drowning with a fishbowl).
7. A newly-opened temple of a god of peace faces closure and opposition after a hidden shrine to a god of death is discovered.
8. The government is recruiting mercenaries to fight off a monster...but their story seems a bit fabricated. What awaits the players?

Religious frisbee player, writer, goofball, and nerd. Some may say professional for the latter two.

1. A travelling circus visits town! Only instead of elephants, they use enslaved Loxodon. They beg for help, even when they can't speak.
2. The guards suddenly surround the party, accusing them of a crime they didn't commit. The party's been framed.
3. On the road, the players find a piece of a poem. After identifying it, they learn it forecasts a deadly worldwide event.
4. Every sunrise, a prayer is held at the local church, but the High Priest talks about some concerningly unnerving topics, completely to the townsfolks' obliviousness.
5. A massive, burning airship falls out of the sky and crash lands into a field a half mile from the party. What the hell happened?
6. A murder is committed at a manor and the investigators ask the party's help. The main suspects: The stable boy, the head butler, and the family members of the victim.
7. A sinister voice speaks to the party every few days, warning of an imminent threat to the players. Just the players and no one else.
8. The party is asked to scope out an allied mercenary outpost, only to find the campsite turned completely into glass and crystal.
9. A player finds a strange marble in their coin pouch after praying to a shrine. It hums with arcane energy and is unable to be identified. What could it possibly be?
10. A messenger bird delivering a love letter is tragically shot down. Inside the letter, the party discover more than just romantic poems and cringe worthy lines.
Thought of all of these on the spot so they're probably not the best lol. Have fun.

Lady Quenneth is there in flesh but not in spirit, the question is who's impersonating her and most importantly, where is she now?
