Something one of my players brought up after we had a Marid in a session last night.
In the 2024 Monster Manual, all of the other elemental genies (Dao, Djinni, Efreeti) gained the Magic Resistance trait — advantage on saves vs. magical effects — which none of them had in the 2014 Monster Manual.
But Marids didn't. I don't really see any obvious reason why. They have the other features that are common to the other three types (Elemental Restoration, Wishes) but not that one. This has to be a mistake, right? Or is there something I'm missing here?
Of course, we can’t say for sure. Looks like the marid has a few more hit point, more elemental resistances and blindsight, which the others don’t have. Maybe they thought magic resistance on top of that would be too much 🤷♂️
