Previously in my campaign there was Summer Solstice. I made it so that during that day magic was more potent and each character received a unique skill they could use during that day. If they used it, they triggered a wild surge regardless of their class (slightly modified to better match the theme and if sorcerer specific items were rolled). For instance, the wizard could once upcast a spell by using a lower level spell slot, the zealous barbarian's rage trigger was a super sayan transformation that dealt radiant damage to surrounding creatures, and so on. Nothing drastic, but something the make the players get the feeling that the world reacts to the calendar.
I've planned that when the campaign reaches Winter Solstice some similar effects will occur, but in a magic hindering way or something, we're not there yet...
BUT, there's plenty of other events and festivals before Winter Solstice. Next up is Midsummer and I'd want to give my party some Midsummer specific event. Maybe something related to the Feywild or fey beings. Maybe the cleric character receives a sidequest by his deity (Tymora). Has anyone run these sorts of events before? What one day events could be doable for Midsummer?
So after some very short research in mythology it was a day when the laws of nature and divinity were ignored and fey (fairy’s) could contact humans. Maybe a buff to druids and holy casters and marshals (paladins, rangers(nature) and monks). Then Halloween time (necromancers and other marshals get buffs) for the dead

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a Mimic.
