So a while back I had the idea for a one-shot based around the three little pigs (still serious) where the big bad wolf was some kind of demonic lycanthrope with a breath weapon. When some of the group couldn’t make it, they asked to do a sort of session zero for my one shot with an encounter. It went well! …for once in my life, maybe a little too well. Now they’re interested in a full campaign based around what they’ve seen so far! The crazy part is I don’t think they’ve figured out what it’s based on yet! So, I’m looking for ideas.
So far, after 100 years of no werewolves, two people transformed into hybrids at the tavern the party was meeting a contact at. A halfling (little pig) spoke of running into a big one last night at his home and is interested in hiring the party. They checked the rooms of the ones that thrned and found a map of around where the halfling (Al Bacon) lives, so they are going there next session first.
Along the way, they’ll run into a Tiefling girl named Red going to her grandma’s house. When she gets there, she’ll notice parts of her body aren’t quite right. Needless to say it’s another wolf, but this one seems to be able to shape-shift to resemble other people! The party can find grandma’s regurgitated body from the Big Bad Wolf earlier, as well as a note revealing the grandma’s mother was a blood hunter who helped make a deal with Malar the beast god to get rid of the werewolves for 100 years.
I’m assuming after that, they’ll go to the three halfling’s houses to make plans to fight the Big Bad Wolf when it returns. We’ll see how they strategize and what damage it can do to the infrastructure with its breath weapon.
That’s the short version of what I have planned. So, where should I go from there? Do I try to make it last longer? Do I make more werewolves? Do I go with the fairy tale theme? Do I call it quits after TBBW?
That sounds super fun! I find it's pretty common for people to want to keep going after what was meant to be a one-shot, and a fine complement to how your game went.
I love that your party is going to find Little Red.
I think it could be super fun to keep going with the fairy tale allusions, there's such a richness of literature and it's delightful to have those moments when you get a callback.
3 little pig and little red . vs wolf pack family .
player may choose slay wolfs
Player may choose to break the curse .
those are two ending that player may end up .

The above is the plot line that you build your larger world and create the BBEG. No werewolves then poof there are two. What created them and did the BBEG do this prior? Why did he create two werewolves? Was it a pure accident? a spell gone wrong or was he trying to create them to get an "army of minions"?
I am sure you have no answers and others on the site who are better experienced then me can give you more. But I think the line I quoted gives you an in to expand the one shot.

Sorry if i wasn’t clear. The idea was there was a deal made to Malar to rid them of the Werewolves for 100 years with the catch that they would return stronger.
As to why they exist in the first place… that’s a good question I might want to look further into. Thanks!

So far they have already slain two, but I like the idea of them trying to cure people rather than slaying them. Having said that, I asked in advance for the only one who could learn remove curse not to learn it out of fear they would cure all of them without a fight. Perhaps I misread how that spell works or could rework it to only work on fallen enemies?

Thank you! I might just consider that. We’ll see what the party thinks when they discover this is based on fairy tales and whether they are into that or more into just fighting werewolves.
Make the problem more existential, so they have to do more work to solve it, and thus take more sessions and have it spread into a longer game. The werewolves are coming back, but they are also awakening a resting demon or primordial lairing beneath the land, and this is causing disease to spread, or whatever else fits your fancy. Bigger problem most likely means more time needed to solve.
