I am getting ready to start a Curse of Strahd campaign and want to include the Barber of Silverymoon adventure that was in Dragon+ a while ago. I was wondering if anybody had any advice on where to put it. I was thinking probably Vallaki. Any suggestions or advice?
Vallaki is the first fully running town your adventurers will arrive at and, as such, there will be a lot for them to do (finding Van Richten, dealing with Izek S., meeting the keepers of the inn, helping the temple missions, and more). Unless you want them staying there for weeks, or don't intend for them to do as much as the book offers, you might want to consider a quieter town.
Rumors would an excellent way to get them to Krezck (sorry if spelling is off). Unless players need to go the St. Markovia's Abby, there is little need for players to go into this city. Even then, the town itself has few missions associated with it. It is currently in a state of barely controlled chaos, due to the near death of it's burgormaster and the chilling noise from the Abby. A perfect place, in other words, for unnoticed deaths and a backdrop for madness that should pair well with the mission (unless I am thinking of a different one).
