I am a new DM about to start my first campaign, and I would like to try and integrate the players background into the adventure. One of my character has given me the perfect opportunity to be creative and built a nice story from her background.
The character:
Protector Aasimar, Warlock (Archfey Patron), with Inheritor background.
She decided her inheritance was a Ring, that she also uses as her arcane focus. She also decided that her inheritance is a mystery that she wants to learn about as the campaign unfolds.
One day, she met Titania, her Otherworldly Patron, made a pact to gain powers in order to help protect the land from evil. On the one hand helping farmers and agriculture, but also protecting nature from over-farming.
Her ideal is respect. Her bond is the land; help, protect, and love the land. Her flaw is that a tyrant wants her dead.
From the DM’s perspective now, my general ideas:
She was separated at birth from her twin brother at birth. Brought up by a small family in a community of farmers.
Her and her brother are supposed to be the true rulers of their hometown (I was thinking for example Yartar on the Sword Coast of the Forgotten Realms).
The Ring is representative or her royal ancestry, or her ruling rights. Her brother has a similar ring.
The tyrant that wants her dead is the current ruler of her hometown, because they don’t want anybody refuting their false claim to the rule.
Angel guide came to her at birth to help her one day find her true origins.
Looking for inspiration:
Ring: Is the Ring magic? How does it represent her origins?
Twin: What happened to her twin brother? Captured by tyrant? Out there somewhere?
Tyrant: What do they know about the twins? What kind of people work for them? Who else knows?
Guide: What kind of dreams could the angel guide send her?
Just looking for any kind of ideas to build this Inheritance background and integrate it into my campaign. I already have some ideas, but I thought a discussion with other DMs could help bring other ideas to life to help build a strong story/adventure based on a character’s background.
This doesn't quite fit into your description, and I don't know your players, but I like the idea that her brother is the tyrant. She was sequestered away with the true signet ring by an oracle, while her brother grew up in the trappings of luxury and power with a forgery. They both share the same vague dreams from their angel guide, but interpret them differently. He instinctively knows his is not the real ring, and feels a faint connection to hers, but in his arrogance (supported by his angelic guidance) refuses to believe he is not destined to rule.

tyrant wears the ring...
guide says the ring is the key
from this you should be able to frame the story by simply allowing questions to be asked and answered with questions,
ex. who has my brother's ring, the tyrant but why. is the tyrant... my brother? regardless of the answer, is the tyrant really my enemy?
and so on
Jesus Saves!... Everyone else takes damage.
