So the Maps for Blingdenstone are not to scale, and there are a lot of fights where room dimensions would be nice. Are there maps somewhere for this part of the adventure? Right now it feels daunting to try and draw all this...
The map in this chapter has scale on it - on the left side of the map, there's an indicator of how large 300 feet is.
Maps of this nature can be fairly daunting as a DM though, just to the somewhat haphazard feel of the tunnels and caverns. Honestly though, just pick roughly the size you feel is appropriate based on the map and the description of the encounter.
I missed that scale completely! It doesn't really stand out. Well that kinda gives me a rough idea of the size but man, I'm still not looking forward to running this thing..I was at least hoping for gridded maps for encounters of some of the more threatening fights...like the Medusa.
Yeah, the map and locations here are lot more like the old school 1e dungeons - I used to have a hard time with those, as my players at the time liked to map, so would ask stuff like, "so exactly how far across is this cavern again?" and I would be measuring on my DM map to check and it really wrecked the flow of narration and the adventure.
Following on from my earlier post, if you're using "theater of the mind", as opposed to fights with miniatures on a grid, just give a description that feels about right for how you imagine the room to look and it doesn't matter if that's not exactly the same as what's written in the adventure book. You're more likely to be consistent as well this way.
