I am making a campaign, and the basic idea is the PC's start with a mission, that later on Opens up to the zone I have created and they can either do side quests, explore, and push on through the main story to. What I am wanting feedback is some of the ideas I have wrote down of what I think would be an interesting story. Here they are
A warlock that is attempting to summon a dangerous beast that is insanely strong
A strong Ogre clan that needs to be taken down.
Dangerous beats that can be found at certain places around the world that must be killed for X reason
And lastly, A full out Arthas lich king from World of Warcraft, basically.
Constructive criticism is appreciated, I am a new DM so I'm learning things as I go on.
Also! I hope this is the right place to post this. Otherwise my apologizes!
More things you should think about when world building are:
1. How does a player character backstory fit in? (e.g. are the Ogres threatening the home village of one? Is the Warlock a former friend, back when the player character was a child etc.) 2. How static or dynamic do you want your world to be? What happens to the Warlock's plan, if the players decided to deal with the Ogres first (or vice versa). Will there be a difference or will the adventure "wait" for it to be started. 3. Find balance between and emphasis on the three pillars of RPGs (role play & social interaction / exploration & players vs. the environment/ round based combat)
You have more premises then actual plots. But they are awesome premises. Now you just have to flesh out the plots, the main thing being is the villain wants something very badly and i shaving difficulty getting it.
Lets take the Ogre clan, they are very strong, but why are they strong? why do they need to be taken down? what is their end goal and how are they going to accomplish it. Then you just plot out how they are going to go about their main goal and insert the players into it at various points to try and thwart it, or however you prefer your story to play out.
DMGorani, For the region I have created, it would only have one villain, So only a warlock or an Ogre clan.
csheets416, This is great! Thank you! I ill definitely keep this in mind.
I am going to try to go for a mission at the start of the campaign kind of introducing the story, and open the world I have created for the PC's and let them either push through with the main story or they can go on with side quests.
Again! Thank you for all the kind replies! I really appreciate it! Thank you all!

I see nothing wrong with these mission/plot ideas.
Were you needing anything else?
Hi DxJxC! And thank you for responding!
That is awesome to hear though! Nothing else is needed. Thank you!
