Got a trickster cleric that can polymorph. Some opponents have stats that have a pretty good chance of making the saves. Others have counter spell to "guard" themselves. I'm ok with my players using polymorph. Just don't want to make to easy for them on trivializing some big epic fights. What are some other counter measures a DM can take?
Simple immunities to it, that or advantage on wisdom saving throws. In the triangle set up Noksa mentioned, you could also have it to where the mage could counterspell, the meatshield and healer recognize the spell due to their own mage (who could have it as well, taste of their own medicine) and simply attack the transformed ally who would then break out due to realizing the options to counter it. If I recall the spell only alters the users physical form, so their mental faculties could all be there allowing for that plan. Could take it one step further even "The wizard turned bunny runs up to the ally fighter and simply lays on it's back, limbs stretched out showing all their vital points on their soft pet sized body. The Fighter takes his sword and plunges it into the rabbits stomach/stomps it etc etc breaking the polymorph effect. The Wizard now lies prone with the fighter placing himself between the two of you, taking a defensive stance." A little cheap, but at that point it just results in the spell costing two enemies their turn for that round and in doing so you don't need to worry about your party fighting and killing someone with an anti polymorph magic ring.

Multiple opponents worthy of polymorph? Do I polymorph their mage, their massive meatshield or their healer?
