So I've read the "The Last Mythal" book series, and 4 minutes ago I read a fandom page about him. Now the long term campaign arc I've planned for my players is to kill Zariel the archfiend of Avernus. Malkazid would probably, (in my eyes) want to get in on this. As he could possibly restore his place in the nine hells. And I thought that I would be a great NPC and possible enemy to set in front of them. But he doesn't have any stats, and from what I remember from the mythal books he could plane shift (I'm guessing at will) to his own domain at least, and he could craft and change mythals like it was just another 7th level spell. So I would guess he is a pretty potent spellcaster, but he is melee based. In the books I can only remember him raking and tearing people. Not really casting spells, (other than using mythals). So does anyone mayhaps already have some homebrew stats for him? Or perhaps you may have an idea or two for his abilities. I want him to be potent, but he doesn't need to be CR 49. Thanks in advance! ^^
Malkizid was an arch devil. Though Asmodaus exiled him and now he resides in the blood rift. He has a supplyment of devils who support him, but he is more the one who only gets in the fray when he thinks it's time or he is NEEDED, BADLY. I wanna refreance a point in the book but I don't wanna spoil it. (And tbh I can't rememeber which book it was). I surgest if you wanna get a better picture of what I'm talking about just search him up, and find the fandom page about him. It has a picture of him and tells you of lore you wouldn't imagine.
Find a copy of "Champions of Ruin". It's 3rd ed and has a section on him. Stats would need to be converted to 5E obviously, but they have him listed as CR27. Imune to fire/poison, resistant to acid/cold. High everything except Dex. Go figure.... But they have 3 pages of info on him in there.
Thank you! I might just lower his CR greatly. I feel like that many of the high ranking CR enemies from the hells or abyss or for that matter with any importance are just the same. Immunities to smaller things, resistance against EVERYTHING (basically) and they do a shit load of damage from either 4d12+16 damage or from 4 attacks. Spellcasters are pretty much just a high level NPC with extra abilities. So I really want something different, and I was hoping malkazid a strong beastly pile of shit would be funny to have as the puppet master like in the books buuuuuuut I guess he is just an intelligent brute. Oh well. I'm getting ahead of myself here. Sorry.
But thank you!

If Tiamat is any example, then archdevils will be CR30 or close to it.
He doesn't need to have spellcaster levels to have spells via innate spellcasting.
I don't know who (or what) Malkazid is, so I can only provide general homebrew monster advice.
