So I'm writing a campaign where the players are diplomats to another land, and they must solve mysteries and prevent assassinations and all of that fun stuff.
The thing I'm struggling with is what level should I start the players at? (I'm playing with fairly experienced players) Diplomats are the type to probably have had quite a bit of training and are probably fairly good at what they do- You wouldn't send a completely inexperienced paladin into enemy territory. So I was thinking maybe second or third level? What does everyone think?

The priestess's blood flows through me. And because of that, they need me to open the portal.

Depending on what you are aiming to accomplish, starting somewhere in the 3-5 level range would make the most sense.
Thank you! Your advice is very much appreciated.
