I am a new-ish DM, I started a few months ago, and I need some advice on underground invasions. My campaign is taking place in medieval London, and an evil race of rat creatures is going to invade the city using the sewer system. If any one here has run something similar, I would love any advice you can give me!
Are you after tactics, or stats for the rat people, or both?
First, you need to comprehensively map out the sewer system. Where does it discharge to? Just into the Thames? Does it have a consistent flow? What about storms/rainwater causing it to flood? Have they built blockages to create relatively dry warrens for their people? What are the blockages made of? Have they been collecting the castoffs of society? Did they mutate 4 baby turtles and train them to be ninjas? Where are the sewer manholes located? Why are they invading?
