One of my players in my ravnica campaign is needing money. The conundrum is that his character is basically a cop in the Azorius guild (technically a lawmage). His problem is that his guild gives him barely any gold to survive, and in adventures he can’t take gold that isn’t his because it’s not the right thing to do. He needs it though for scribing spells and such. Suggestions? Right now I’m saying that his guild is supplying him with stuff he can requisition for his research limitedly
He could seize or acquisition gold in the name of the law, and spend gold on spells and equipment as necessary expenses to do so. And even keep a detailed ledger of those transactions.

drop the ingredients needed to make the stuff all over the place where he can gather it without it being part of a quest reward.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll probably end up doing both of those actually
Moonlighting as a security guard when he’s not working officially.
Give him some missions where he is allowed to claim a share of the gold as long as he accomplishes the other aims of the mission.
