New DM with not so new players - the fall of silverpine watch?

Hello,

I am looking to DM my first one/few shot soon and just read trough the 'fall of silverpine watch' by the angry DM.

I really like the story but i don´t think we would particularly love playing with the limited abilities of level 1 characters.

What would be (if possible) the best way to go about increasing PC level to at least lv 2, 3 or 4 without destroying the purpose of the module?
