I'm currently running a game for my kids, a combination of homebrew and pre-written stuff (safe in the knowledge that the 6 year old is not paying attention to the geographical inconsistencies).
I'm planning to have them through their current quest-line and into some homebrew content surrounding my daughter's family before December, leaving them open for a dragon fight for Christmas.
The Christmas adventure is tentatively aimed at 4 level 10 characters, given that the main party is life cleric (played by the 6 year old) a champion fighter tortle (played by the 3 year old) and a sun bear zealot barbarian and fire-focused warforged warlock (DM pcs, but pretty much do what the players suggest. There may be more PCs if other family members decide they want to join in.
The Adventure is currently sketched out in a google doc here. I'd appreciate any comments, feedback or suggestions. (Depending on length I might split this into two sessions, breaking just before the dragons.)
A resource you may want to consider; there was an older 4e Dragon Magazine article that detailed an adventure that starred a Christmas Dragon as the villain. It was called "The Longest Night" and was a setting for an 11th level adventure that saw the party trying to save a group a villages from a red dragon consort of Tiamat that went house to house during a designated festival day and demanded tribute from each family. Those that couldn't pay enough were reduced to cinders along with their house while the other villagers watched. I'm not sure if a PDF of the article is still floating around the internet, as that was back when the magazines were fully digital downloads, but I do know it was added to the collection that got a printing in the first Dragon Annual that came out in December of 2008.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Definitely a great find. Not a lot to chew on but encouraged to see the set-up is fairly similar to what I already have. Might take a little inspiration from this and add in an element where the white dragon used to demand tributes from the nearby towns. Might give the party the idea to plot an ambush... might not.

For those who are interested I found that annual archived online and for sale on drivethrurpg.
Still interested in any opinions or comments on what I've worked on so far.
