I need a little help, I have a race of beings in our campaign that uses rituals to perform their magic. They are part of a collective group that works together to spread their control over the lands by performing a ritual that "assimilates" others into their collective (much like the borg but they are not cybernetic beings, just powerful warlock beings with psionic powers) . For the most part me and the DM (I'm a standby DM for the game) have come up with most of the rituals, however, we're having some trouble with the assimilation ritual. All the rituals they use must be performed under some phase of the moon, and they only affect females, males are used as slaves and sacrifices. I need some sort of ritual that takes full control over the minds of females (unless they are able to resist it) and assimilates them into their collective group. It also assimilates their magic and memories, as well as their abilities. It also has to have some sort of "reversal" method that can only be performed by a ritual by a level 20 wizard. Anyone have any experience with creating rituals? If so, could you help me create this sort of ritual. any help would be greatly appreciated.
It could be some sort of super Enchantment spell. If the rituals are tied with the moon, maybe the vector for the spell could be shining moonlight on the person, and if they fail whatever save they make the person becomes assimilated.
Since you need a certain moon phase to do the ritual, maybe undoing the ritual might be a similar event, like a lunar eclipse. But since those are rare, it might be more powerful, releasing most or all of the assimilated people.
Plus, if the assimilation ritual has a regular occurence (once a month), maybe the material components are rare material (like a mix of demon and devil blood). The release ritual material, however, might be rather common (like an axe that chopped down a 100 year old tree during the right moon phase).
Ok, good ideas, but I do need one other thing, I have no problem with the moon phases, our campaign uses real time for timing, so that's not a problem, but, for instance if we needed say the moon to become a different color, is there some sort of spell within D&D that would allow manipulation of the moon's appearance, or is there a spell that could per say alter when a specific phase would occur?
I'm actually thinking of modifying an existing spell that can control weather or something using some homebrew methods or something. Or maybe some sort of incantation spell or illusion spell. Is it possible to mix a warlock with a wizard to allow me to have access to other spells that a wizard does not have?
There’s the magic initiate feat or ritual caster, though those only give you a 1st level spell, but you can homebrew a souped up version.
You could always make a custom spell and make the spell available to whichever class you like, and even make it 1st level, just very rare and forgotten. Then there’s something for the PC’s to hunt down, an ancient tome where they can find the ritual so they can reverse it.
I would suggest reskinning weird make it a ritual if you like, and substitute "creatures" for creature and "worst nightmare" for your moon scene, "frightened" for assimilated and of course allow that horrible psychic damage to be transfered to the material component.... a male slave...which is destroyed when the spell is cast.
I think me and the DM have decided to homebrew a custom spell as mentioned above. As stated it is rare, but creating our own spell would probably be the easiest way to go. The DM is very well versed on creating spells and abilities, she's done it many times in past campaigns, it seems the logical way to go with this. Now we just have to figure out the actual ritual and how it should be performed.

Not that I know of, but if that's what you need, then there is one.
If you have a vision, then make it happen how ever you can.

Jesus Saves!... Everyone else takes damage.
