Hello, we are a group of three players (me, wife, and son) with a DM and are nearing the end of LMoP. Would you mind offering suggestions for after LMoP? We're looking for something fun like LMoP. We play once a week for 2 hours. We're 17 sessions in, level 4, and are about to start the Wave Echo Cave. We're looking for a module with about the same length of adventure (3 to 4 months). I skimmed over SKT but at once a week it looks like it would be a lot longer than 3 or 4 months? Also, I don't want our young son to be overwhelmed with the amount of choices and locations which SKT seems to have.
We will be continuing with our same characters who should be level 5 at the conclusion of LMoP. I thought Dragon of Icespire Peak might be nice so our son has some hack and slash fun with the locations that are for lower levels then we progress into the areas that are for our level. Then if we want to continue it seems there is Storm Lord's Wrath, Sleeping Dragon's Wake, and Divine Contention. I'm not sure if these are all just fighting undead. Anyone have experience with any of these?
We play with a paid DM who is excellent so we're looking for a pre-made module.
SLW, SDW, and DC are amazing! I am running Storm's Lord's Wrath currently and it is going really well. It has excellent foreshadowing, a cool town, funny quests (giant goats is one), and a great plot! I plan to take the campaigns through Sleeping Dragon's Wake and Divine Contention, which I have skimmed, and they both look just as good. They are excellent sequels to Icespire Peak.
For DoIP, I would suggest to your DM that they cut out some of the quests, at least the 3 starting ones, which are for levels 1-3. The follow up quests are enough to have some easy ones before you dive in with your level stuff. That should also give the DM enough time to show the effects of the dragon. If you want to just get to the action, the last three quests should be enough.
Yeah I agree with UndautedDM. You don't need the first three quests for DoIP if you're starting at a higher level. The other quests and encounters can easily be scaled up to provide more of a challenge as well. The only hard part is that you'd basically run the whole adventure without leveling up. You could probably just skip it all together and just run SLW, SDW, and DC. Since it's all in the same area of LMoP, I'm sure you're DM can tie it together.

SLW does start at 7th level- do you know of any short adventures that could bridge the gap? (I'm looking to run SLW with a post-LMoP in a different campaign as well)
You could pull a couple encounters from DoIP that fit the storyline. I have a friend who actually mixed LMoP and DoIP together and it seems to be working out.

Thank you both.
Make something up. Homebrew. That’s the only way I know how to DM.
Looks like we are actually gravitating back toward SKT now. Anyone play this? Is it good?
