So for my bbeg for act 2 of the campaign, I completely homebrewed the statblock. This encounter will be with about 6, level 10 players who are all quite experienced in the tactics of tabletop combat. i KNOW at first this guy looks a bit too much, but keep in mind, they took down a CR 11 plus adds (when there was only 4 of them) without magic items past a +1 weapon. The theme is an avatar of a death-god focused on plague. (heavily inspired by Nurgle from the warhammer universe.) he's got like 216 HP as of now, legendary resistances/actions and an aura that gives disadvantage on attackrolls unless they pass a save.
I wanna know if his actions seem TOO absurd, or (unlikely) not enough? Would you pit your level 10 players against it? (don't worry about fixing formatting and wording, its mainly for my own use lol)
Multiattack.
King Rheggan can use his SPAWN INFECTED ability (If recharged) and make 3 attacks, two with the Scythe of Chaen and one with the Plague-Cannon
Scythe of Chaen.
Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit Reach 15ft. 3d10+9 Slashing damage. If hit, the target must make a constitution saving throw of 20 or take an additional 3d10 poison damage.
Plague Cannon.
Ranged Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, Range 150/300 ft. 3d10 Bludgeoning Damage. If hit, the target must make a constitution saving throw or take 3d10 poison damage and be poisoned. When the target is poisoned in this way, they take 1d6 poison damage at the start of each of their turns. If the target succeeds the saving throw, they take half of the poison damage and are not poisoned
Spawn Infected.
Recharge 5 or 6: King Rheggan materializes 1d4+2 infected humanoids (Zombies).
Zombies are probably a bit underwhelming for such a high CR. Ghouls or ghasts might be slightly more appropriate. Additionally, you might want to vary the amount of damage types King Rheggan deals, perhaps replacing the riding poison damage with necrotic
and as for the zombies, I was going to modify them a bit, giving them all armor and weapons (they're still concious, just sick and brain-washed) so they'd all have an 16-18 AC. ALSO! I was planning on giving Rheggan a Reaction that allows him to use a nearby zombie to intercept damage (like he's commanding them to Martyr themselves). They were never intended to be threatening, just ways to absorb player actions lol
true, though the reason i chose ghouls specifically was due to their paralyzing claws, because this creature seems to have a lack of disabling effects it can cause. Perhaps you can add an extra action that stuns or paralyzes, like some kind of "Rigor Mortis" attack. Additionally, I personally find it best to vary the amount of saving throws a boss monster can impose, so maybe you can have something like a "Dancing Plague" that causes opponents to dance, as if through Otto's Irresistible Dance, on a failed WIS or CHA save.
Well I've already established in the story that the infected are glad to be infected (it gives victims a rush of euphoria so they enjoy rotting away) so they laugh a lot. I could give him Tasha's hideous laughter and that'll target something other than CON! And I like the ghoul idea (or at least the potential to paralyze)!.
Keep em coming if you got them cause this fights gonna be a ***** for them lol

Good idea with the damage type!!

Ok, do you have Mornenkainen's Tome of Foes? Either way, take a look at the rot troll's Rancid Degeneration trait.
