I’m writing a dungeon crawl in the tomb of the general of an ancient unit of griffon riding dwarven warriors, and I’m looking for interesting names for the unit.
I would go back to some of the "ancient" Grayhawk writings for inspiration on this. If you go through Moradin's information, you'll find some interesting things there... like one that might work for this:
Order of the Anvil of Light
If you want to go with Dwarves ascending (flying mounts) you can also have something leading up to Mount Celestia, Moradin's home plane.
Cavalry of Celestia
One of the large dwarves cities was called the Rift and dealt with a steep ravine but had a lot of interaction with archons and celestials.
Rifthammers (to harken back to a previous post) or even simply Foehammers.
Oh... if you want to riff on a theme of the "Order of the Anvil of Light" but don't want to be so pretentious... "Hammers of Light"... which implies many things... (ok, so I got stuck on hammers for a bit... jumping off of that theme)
Order of Feathersteel ... (ok, so that didn't last long... Feathersteel Foehammers... and, I swear... I am done!)

The Order of the Anvil of Light looks like a bunch of pompous Griffon ridding clerics when they appear on the scene they always say "Good Day, Citizen. We'll take it from here."
Hi everyone,

Any thoughts or suggestions?
The first thing that came to mind was "The WingBeards"

Riders of the Rift
Its not great but "Frigin Forders" is and anagram of Griffon Riders, I thnk it has a certain something when said with a sterotypical dwarven accent.
I feel something alliteration would work well. If they are followers of Moradine. Moradin Moroders.
The Griffon Riders of Gwynneth
The Griffon Riders of Gundarlun
Talon Riders
I mean, yes. But hopefully in 'epic'.
I once had the "Mighty Hamster Riders of Danaroth..."
They kinda had Napoleon syndrome.
How about?*
The Epic Griffon Riders of Gwynneth
The Epic Griffon Riders of Gundarlun
Epic Talon Riders
*Sorry could not resist.
Okay, but what about epic AND ancient-sounding-now-but-contemporary-for -the-time?

I just found this:
https://lingojam.com/CommontoDwarvishTranslator
Griffon translates as Griffon but Lion Eagle translates as: skeggorklar guthavok which could be a tweaked to the Riders of Skeggorklar Guthavok.
Skeggorklar Guthavok being the orignal founder of the Griffon riders.
Dropping that name into https://ttsreader.com/ it sounds pretty cool, too. (All be it in a computer-generated voice.)

That looks cool! Thanks
