Just curious who/how many of us have shifted our tabletop games to online, or are concentrating solely on our online games?
I just moved cities two months ago, and hadn't gotten around to setting up a new local tabletop group yet when everything went pear-shaped. I've not set up any online games because I wanted to set up a local group here ... but I guess it's time to build online :p

Most of my games were online already, so my D&D games have not changed. However my husband had a group he was DMing for that came over once a week. They've transitioned to online play through Discord and D&D Beyond, with the plan to come back together in person when things clear up again. It took them a session to work out what made sense for them and get the technology working, but are now happily playing again. So if you want to find a local group that starts online and moves to in person, it can absolutely work!

As of a couple of weeks ago, we've shifted to all online for a bit.
One group uses Discord and roll20 in addition to DnDB. I run with theater of the mind (and a few images) and conferencing software (ie zoom, skype, teams etc). It's definitely an adjustment and it's a bit harder to get the "sense" of the table, but so far so good. I'd recommend not focusing on the tech as much (ie making elaborate maps etc) but it seems a lot of folks are trying that.

I've moved to Roll20 for my Descent Into Avernus game. Some players are new to Roll20 as a whole, but with 3 games under their belts they're getting the hang of it. As the DM, all I miss is rolling actual dice and being able to look my players in the eye while in character for NPCs. I just find myself staring at the Blue Snowball mic.
I do miss having folks around a table, especially because that's where we started. (Not because I have a bunch of miniatures for this game)

Find me on Twitter: @OboeLauren
Another alternative I'm considering is "Duet play" - one Player, one DM - since my wife is one of my regular Players :)
That might work doubly well - as I think she'd make an awesome DM - so maybe let her practice on me as well :)

Hi,
I am curious what D&D Beyond brings to remote play, other than the campaign tool and notes? Is there map sharing somewhere in DNDB that I am missing?
Semper Fidelis
There isn't a virtual table top in DNDB - at least not yet.
There are some unofficial browser plugins which support Roll20/DNDB integration ( such as this one in this thread here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/general-discussion/38455-beyond20-integrating-d-d-beyond-with-roll20 ) although I have never tried them, and cannot vouch for them.
Edit: There is also Avrae , which is a DNDB/Discord integration: https://avrae.io/
