This afternoon the party slogged through knock down drag out with several demons. 3 of them were bearded devils which have what amount to glaives of wounding. The barbarian took one and the paladin and cleric were wanting the other 2 but weren’t sure if if they would be allowed to take “evil” weapons. In my world the faith based PC’s get their power more from personal belief than from the gods. How would ya’ll handle it?
Weapons are Evil or Good/Neutral only if they have an Ego and Personality, if they are in brief Intelligent weapons.
So RAW and RAI the Devils weapons arn't "Evil", but since they look sinister, if the characters doesn't go out of their way to find a way to change the weapons appearance,, people with a certain sensitivity to Devilish things, might feel a bit unpleasant near it.
Now RAI, Devils and Demons, don't leave corpses or belongings behind, it all vanish into a puff of Sulfuric smoke, outside if they had items from the Mortal realm on them.
But thats up to you.

Well, dang. Good to know, they’ve already got them so I’m not going to retcon.the rest makes sense though, thanks.

I would say that largely this answers the question for you, but I think a smidge more information is in order.
What Oath is the Paladin following? What Domain, and specifically what god of that domain, is the Cleric following?
It would make sense for Oaths of either Conquest or Vengeance, but less so for Devotion or Redemption. I'm unsure how Ancients or the Crown would look upon it, but it would be absolutely perfect for Oathbreaker.
Similarly, War Domain and probably Trickery Domain I see no problems for the Cleric. But that's gonna be a hard no from me on Life, Knowledge, Arcana, and probably Order and Unity. But even more than that, all of these Domains are divided between the specific gods that have dominion over parts or all of those subjects. The individual god may or may not have a problem with it, but that's going to be grounded in the background lore of that figure, and how the DM (I'm assuming you?) adjudicates that subject.
But again, if the classes are primarily fueled by personal belief, rather than divine favor, it's probably not at issue.
If you're intent on keeping the weapons the devils dropped, just make them standard versions of the weapons. The PC's don't have the fiendish abilities that devils do so they cannot make the weapons do the same thing.
