Got back into the game a couple of months ago and I have been DMing a weekly tabletop group. It’s a homebrew world but not with any homebrew character traits and classes and stuff like that. Basically just a homebrew world with 5e rules and some restrictions that play into the storyline of this particular realm.
ANYWAY, there is an untamed wilderness of hills beyond the borders of this realm and after an incursion of some monsters into the region the authorities are reacting by sending a party (my group) out to recon and “trim the herd,” so to speak, thereby reducing the threat of further incursions (they are also establishing outposts to deal with further incursions before the creatures can reach the citizens of the realm).
ANYWAY, there has been a LOT of story development and plot lines and character development and RP and social interaction in our sessions so far. So right now, I’m just looking to get into some good old-fashioned hack and slash for the group to show them some more action and challenge their multiple-encounter, out in the wild durability, and, of course, help them level up [they are all currently level 3] :-)
Does anyone know of any good Wilderness Resources for tabletop D&D, like maps with explanations or premade encounters, etc.? Something that can be plopped into a homebrew world or modified without too much difficulty.
This should be a hilly environment. I would like outdoor combat in the hills, also in the valleys, and some cave content is fine as well. Probably no full-scale dungeon at this time, but some minor cave complexes would be okay. And no goblins or orcs.
I have no problem creating my own adventures and settings but with this one being pretty straightforward hack and slash I wouldn’t mind relying upon something else for the heavy lifting.
i also suggest search for mike's free encounters on dmsguild...lots of options there (fyi - he bundles them in packs of 10 so you don't have to download 50 separate files - so look for the bundles).
