Little bit of context; I allow my players a couple of bonus things as a part of their backstories--this ranges from possibly an extra language, an extra proficiency in a skill, etc. One of those things is a pet though only if it "makes sense" and the player is made aware that killing the pet is fair game to villains. One of my players is a warlock, and chose to have a tressym as their pet. Now the party is at level three, and this player is definitely going towards pact of the chain. Flavour-wise, this tressym is going to become their familiar.
With pact of the chain, and the more powerful familiar options it gives, I think it's only fair to "power-up" the tressym stats accordingly--any suggestions?
I don't recall which forum I saw it on, on this site, but there was a moderator whom posted something from the DM's Guild for animal sidekicks which does that. It takes creatures/pets/familiars and gives them an opportunity to level up. I've used it multiple times since I've purchased it. My players and I all get a kick out of having individual sidekicks. They're fairly well balanced in my opinion, so I think it's worth a look.
You could just match the AC, HP, + to hit, base stats to match the imp 1d4+3 dmg, maybe add a minor effect that requires the target to make a save...something like that perhaps.
A tressym can already be part of find familiar. And it can fly and see invisibility (which means the warlock can see invisibility through it), and it's pretty stealthy. It's pretty strong already.
But if you do want it stronger. you could always let him re-skin it as one of the stronger options.
I would just reskin the imp stats or one of the others. The patron takes the treesym and gives them additional abilities since the warlock is so attached to his pet. The patron thinks this is an ideal way to form a bond with their warlock.
Probably, I'd let the treesym keep the see invisibility ability and remove the alternate shapes feature of the imp but otherwise give the treesym the resistances, hit points, invisibility and other benefits of the imp.

https://www.dmsguild.com/product/293883/Animal-Sidekicks <---that link might work, I've had issues with it before.
EDIT: IIRC it was Mellie who posted about it. I just can't find the thread it was on.
EDIT2: Tressym is one of the pets in the book. I read it after I posted this when I got back home. Highly recommend that purchase.
