So, I want to make a puzzle for my players in the middle of a forest clearing, they're looking for a secret entrance to a hidden base and they need to pass some kind of test before they can enter. I was wondering if anyone had any puzzles/puzzle ideas on how I could do this without making it based solely on investigation checks and perception checks. Is there any way I could do a verbal clue hunt or a verbal visual puzzle for them? Im stumped and new to dnd so any help is welcome thanks
1 - You come to a field of budding flowers, when you approach, they open into brilliant colors. The maze is a path of flowers (certain color out of the variety) that bloom when you go near them rather than actual walls. You only unlock the prize if you follow the path to the end.
2- Near the edge of this grassy glade, you see a few blue flowers in bloom. In the center of the clearing is a small pond. In the center of it there seems to be a flat stone with two small holes. From this point, follow a similar unlocking with the prismatic owl. Instead of stones, use flowers. Trees that open or new colored flowers that bloom or rocks that rise from the ground.

Maybe there's a small pond or spring or waterfall and some vary obviously dug creeks for the water to flow through. The party has to find the correct combination of paths for the water to follow to fill a basin at the other end of the clearing to reveal the opening.

Could someone have planted the vegetation in such a way as to lead them to it? Say, a row of flowers arranged like an arrow, that kind of thing.
WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
That could be interesting! I could plant the flowers or something in a pattern that the players could decipher! Or like a riddle
What about a hedge maze? Of course this is D&D... if they can just fly up out of it or levitate or something that wouldn't work.
