Hello all! Over the upcoming winter break, my parents want me to teach them and run a game of D&D for them. I'm super excited, but I also am not sure how to introduce a couple of non-gamers to D&D. They both like Game of Thrones, but that's about as close to D&D as their interests come. I would really appreciate any tips on how to introduce two non-gamers to D&D.
The Starter Set and Essentials both have good resources for beginning players.
One thing you may want to consider is using pre-generated characters. First time players can be easily overwhelmed, so it is often easier for them to choose from specific options.
If it is only the two of them, you can add Side-kicks to fill in any gaps in the party.

EDIT: I'm probably going to run LMoP.

Ok, thank you! I'm definitely using sidekicks, I'm going to consider pre-generated characters!
I would definitely suggest doing a session zero to explain it all to them and go through characters, even if they are pregens.
