The party is in a ramshackle house taken over by ogres. The party engages a group of them in the basement and one of the ogres who is a shaman type dimension doors away to meet up with reinforcements in the barn across from the house. The party will mop up the remaining ogres in about four or five rounds and then will go looking for the the shaman and the other ogres in the barn.
Do I reroll intitiative when they arrive at the barn and re-engage the shaman and the new ogres or do I, for the sake of expediency and flow, keep the current initiative and work the new ogres into it?
It's completely up to you. If the party gets a breather, then yes, reroll initiative, but if the shaman leads the other ogres back to engage, then it's the same fight. This will also impact spells and powers, if you want them to expire, reroll initiative.
I agree that if the Shaman leads the Ogres back during the first fight then yes. Keep initiative and roll for just the new additions (and maybe give the ogres a bonus round if they caught the party by surprise).
If the PCs are moving from one area to another after completing the first encounter I would reroll initiative. The ogres would have to roll anyway so it makes sense to just reroll for everyone. But hey, rule zero so it's whatever you want.
Thanks so much for all of the helpful replies, very much appreciated! This clarifies it. . . if there's a decent break between fights, I'll reroll. Otherwise I'll just roll the new ogres into the original order.

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts!
Reroll initiative. It's another encounter
Up to you. I would not reroll for the party or shaman, but the new ogres get a roll.
