My players are about to encounter an Aboleth and I have a question concerning the Mucous Cloud and the Tentacle attack. Reading the Mucous Cloud it stats: On a failed Con save the creature is diseased for 1d4 hours. The diseased creature can breathe only water. On the tentacle attack it stats: on a failed Con save the creature is diseased, but the disease has no effect for 1 minute (or 10 rounds). My question is this: Is the Mucous Cloud disease instant unlike the tentacle attack? The way I am reading it, it's two different diseases and one is instant while the other takes time.

They both appear to be different diseases. The tentacles deliver a much more potent disease that takes time to set in, while the other disease is relatively minor and acts quickly.
