I have a plot twist for one of my characters where their parents are from hundreds of years ago, and one of the ways for the parents to save the PC from catastrophe was to place them in some sort of cryogenic sleep to wake up and grow much later in the future, where they are now.
Is there an in-game spell that is possible to do this? Would it be too much of a stretch to say the child was placed in the Feywild for X amount of time which equated to hundreds of years of game time? Has anyone else had a situation similar?
There’s this from the lost laboratory Of kwalish: Alternatively, in the aftermath of a Tomb of Annihilationcampaign, a friend, family member, or mentor important to the characters might have been placed in stasis within a magical sarcophagus to protect them from the death curse.
Really, if you’re the DM, anything is on the table. It’s easy enough to have a homebrew relic or spell or ritual that does the trick. Or the feywild thing you suggested. Either way, I hope you’re leaving room for an old enemy to have followed the PC through time.
I was thinking it would be easier to homebrew a spell to fit but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything official that could be a building block for it. Thanks Xalthu!

I knew something did this exactly! But my searching for rendering the unconscious or incapacitated conditions didn't show this. Weird how those aren't specifically called out in the spell's text.

Existing spells suitable for the job include Flesh to Stone and Imprisonment.
Modifying Feign Death or Catnap may be options as well.
Yes, I would also go with Cryogenic Sleep
:D
