HI! Long story short, I’m looking for a one shot campaign that I could minutely modify slightly into a fetch quest in but I’m struggling with finding one. There’s thousands of suggestions for “March of the Modron’s” but that’s a full module and I just need a single 2-4 hr filler game.
See, one of my players is fascinated with Mechanus and the other wants a pet dragon. So I thought I could send them to Mechanus to fetch some core pieces needed to complete a clockwork dragon automaton to give as a pet/companion/mount. However I am not good at crafting things myself so I need a game to provide a foundation that I can just add what they’re after into it.
Any suggestions on possible modules would be greatly appreciated!
Mostly the adventure chain is about foiling the plots of a serial killing rogue Modron who has gone a touch mad, then going to Mechanus to find him and try to figure out what has the Modrons all riled up, then finally trying to prevent a city from becoming the epicenter of both an Orcish invasion and an explosion of Modrons into the Prime Material at the same time.
There is a lot of adapting that you can do to fit in the things you want, or just steal liberally from the adventures to fit your needs, whichever is easier. There's a lot of neat NPCs that the party crosses paths with that could easily be adapted to help them do what you need.

There is a three-part module that has its middle part set in Mechanus. The adventure chain goes in this order:
CCC-BMG-01 CORE 1-1 A Scream in the Night
CCC-BMG-02 CORE 1-2 A Cog in the Wheel (the part that takes place on Mechanus)
CCC-BMG-03 CORE 1-3 A Hole in the World
